Impressions after Amsterdam - PharmaSoft

We were in Amsterdam on 27-29 September for World Drug Safety Congress Europe 2022 Amsterdam. At the congress, we met colleagues, valuable academics, and competent authorities from all over the world. We especially looked out for attending contemporary topics of PV industry which was the most exciting part of the congress and also, having the chance to learn up-to-date information mostly including AI technologies, ML, and software areas in which we have been developing ourselves was a quite useful opportunity.

The first day of the World Drug Safety Congress Europe was mostly about technological improvements that are applied to the PV industry. The first conference was “Integrating Real-World Data in Your Pharmacovigilance Workflow” presented by Bruce Palsulich from Oracle Health Sciences. And the day continued with “Legal Hot Topics in the use of AI in Drug Safety: Classification, Liability, and Better Regulation” by Heinz-Uwe Dettling from EY. The final conference of the first day was “New Developments in Signal Management in Pharmacovigilance by Dimitris Zampatis who is an independent PV expert. The congress we attended on the first day generally included the enhancement of technology, AI-based innovations are saving our time and allow us to look at our industry from a wider perspective.

On 28th September, the first conference of the day was “Automation and Machine Learning in PV: Over Promising or Under-delivering?” presented by Jens-Ulrich Stegmann from GSK. The next conference was “Applied Data Science in Modern Pharmacovigilance” presented by John Reinhard Pietzsch from BAYER. Finally, the last conference was “Case Processing-The Most Important Part of Pharmacovigilance- So Manual or Automated for the Future?” presented by Graeme Ladds from PharSafer. The second day was quite efficient for the future jobs of our companies will have. Also, the chance of discussing the topics that have been covered has enlightened us.

As the congress is about the end, on 29th September, we attend the “How to Get the Best out of Outsourcing” presented by Abiola David from GSK was the first presentation of the last day. Then, we attended “Embedding Signal Management in PV Processes: Proper Action and Common Sense” presented by Bert Van Leeuwen from Astellas Pharma Europe BV. The last conference was “Artificial Intelligence-Future for Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety Professionals” presented by Cristina Damatarca from Adagio Therapeutics and Vipin Sethi from Cadila Pharmaceuticals.

As we leave the World Drug Safety Congress Europe behind, we would like to state that we are pleased that it has given us new opportunities and brought a new vision to the industry.

See you at the next congresses.
